Don Williams and Richard Dove of Midway Storage had a ribbon cutting ceremony and raising of the first wind turbine in Santa Rosa county. Their small, Skystream wind turbine was purchased and installed by local business, Alternative Energy Solutions.

Wind turbines are now a viable source of alternative energy for residential and small business needs. A small wind turbine can be connected to a utility grid and can run on as little as 10 mph winds. All you need is at least 1 acre of land. Having a small wind turbine will mean less energy costs and less pollution. There is even a 30% tax credit under the 2009 American Recovery and Re-investment Act which means those who qualify could purchase a small wind turbine like Skystream for under $10,0000.
